What made me?
I have always been inspired by design, be it in the form of a photograph or a product design the process of solving inherent problems with situations presented to you and succeeding is for me one of the most mentally stimulating things you can do.
Although through school college and university I dealt with different forms of design the basic principles applied to all are the same and often taking approaches from one area of design and apply them to another.
So after moving up from an acron electron to a BBC and onto a Macintosh Plus (which I still own) , I started to learn about the working of computers and the internet through the comnputers I used.
While travelling in 2000 I started to develop my first web skills (if you can call it that) by creating sites in PowerPoint and saving as html (I'm scared just thinking about it).
So when I returned to the UK I managed to get a job at Norwich Union in IT support and moved up and developed my skills in supporting Windows NT. In Feb 2003 after having created a couple of sites in Dreamweaver and other WYSIWYG based software I applied for a Job in the Norwich Union Web team and was taken on as a Junior Developer.
It was one hell of a learning curve and I spent a lot of spare time studying basic html. Since then I have grown more and more passionate about html/Xhtml, css and and all the the elements and skills now associated with the presentation layer of websites. I now champion best practice and principles with in the organisation I work in.
